Brian Russell Jobe is an artist and arts non-profit director based in Tennessee.
Jobe’s studio practice is focused on sculpture, installation, and public art. Jobe typically creates schemes for public interaction through the delineation of pathways. He also constructs site-specific, collaged meeting points using material signifiers of natural and human-made landscapes. Repetition suggests endlessness: walking, arriving, pacing, leaving, returning.
Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Jobe received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tennessee in 2004 and Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006. After living in Brooklyn, NY for a time, he relocated with his wife, painter Carolyn Jobe, to Tennessee.
In 2015, Brian and Carolyn Jobe founded Tri-Star Arts, an organization working to spotlight and grow the contemporary visual arts in Tennessee.
Jobe regularly serves as a visiting speaker, conversation moderator, and juror across the Southeastern U.S.
