About Jason

Born in 1974 to an English father and Guyanese mother, Taylor grew up in Europe and Asia, where he spent much of his early childhood exploring the coral reefs of Malaysia. Educated in the South East of England, Taylor graduated from the London Institute of Arts in 1998 with a BA Honours in Sculpture.

In 2006, Taylor founded and created the world’s first underwater sculpture park. Situated off the coast of Grenada in the West Indies it is now listed as one of the Top 25 Wonders of the World by National Geographic. His pioneering public art projects are not only examples of successful marine conservation, but inspirational works of art that seek to encourage environmental awareness.

Jason's selections

Guy Laramee

Montreal, QC, Canada

Guy is one of those artists that takes a simple idea but executes it so beautifully you can't help but be captivated and drawn into its arms. Just like the book it is carved from, his works drag my imagination into a subtle journey of intrigue and nostalgia.

Kumi Yamashita

New York, NY

Art for me is about describing the unknown, the unquantifiable, defining something beyond our understanding. Kumi walks this line exceptionally well and explores the area between matter and space with such an ingenious and sensitive approach.

Gehard Demetz

Selva di Val Gardena, Italy

Gerhard the second sculptor of my pick, appeals to me as he has truly mastered the traditional technique of woodcarving. He is so adept at changing the narrative of his pieces by altering the textures and finish of the wood, from sharp lines to more abstract cartoon like clothing, an incredibly hard skill to achieve in such an unforgiving material.

Jeff Soto

Riverside, CA

My favorite painting of Jeff's is entitled "Brain decay", for me it is one best portrayal’s of depression and mental confusion I have seen. It balances dark shadows with moments of extreme clarity, resulting in a potent alchemy of moods and emotions. His works also fill me with a sense of wonder and remind me of that moment when you wake from a deep sleep and cant quite determine the difference between dream and reality.

Mitch Dobrowner

Studio City, CA

The technical ability and patience to capture such unique feats of nature is incredible. The word genius is over used but I think Mitch gets very close to it. To achieve these images must require an extremely focused individual who has complete mastery of his camera. If I was wearing a hat at the moment I would be tipping it is his direction.
